Is it like psychotherapy?
Unlike psychotherapy, coaching does not reopen past wounds with a view to healing them. The coaching process focuses on the here and now and aims for the client to take action and decide freely the steps they want to take going forward. Although the client may be going through a difficult time, in coaching they are seen as being perfectly able to lead their own life and to have the creativity and resources needed to set and reach their goals. To do so they have the coach’s support. But it is the client who leads the process, which means they must be committed to it and accept their own responsibility in making it a successful process.
What happens in a session and how long does the whole process usually take?
In the first session the coach and client get to know each other, assess the possibility of working together, ask and answer any queries, and lay the foundations for their joint work. Once the process has got underway, it is up to the client to decide how often they want to meet and when they think the process can be brought to a close. The sessions take place with trust and confidentiality and usually last between an hour and an hour and a half. The support needed to achieve a goal on a specific issue may take eight to twelve sessions, depending on the case. Coaching can be given to individuals, groups and teams.
Where are the sessions held and how much does it cost?
I am currently giving sessions at Mo_Arts i Teràpies, C/Marià Cubí, 69 local in Barcelona.
